Finalists selected for Governor's Cup

All six undergraduate finalists in the Donald W. Reynolds Governor's Cup Business Plan Competition come from northern Nevada Schools.

Five of the seven teams that are finalists in the graduate-student competition come from northern Nevada schools.

Winners will be announced April 26. First-place teams win $20,000, second-place teams win $10,000 and third-place teams win $5,000.

Finalists in the undergraduate competition include Double Time Fitness (Shauna Butler), Truckee Meadows Community College; EVO Fuels (Mark Lemo), University of Nevada, Reno; ME3 -carGLOW (Robert Terhune, Mindi Casey, Doug Eckery, Heather Malson, Shunsuke Otani, Daniel Traut), UNR; parafamilia.com (Stevi Wara, Jocelyn Pulido), UNR: Weingart & Keranen Environmental Solutions (James Weingart, James Keranen), Sierra Nevada College; and Your Jewels (James Lake, Humberto Solis, Rob Tracht, Jayesh Bhakta), UNR.

Graduate teams that are finalists include Joceri Wood Products (Ceri Nishihara, Joshua Apana, John Buchholz), University of Nevada, Las Vegas; Joie de Vivre Rejuvenation Center (Abby Royal, Vanessa Abigail Royal), Community College of Southern Nevada; Kicks N' Sticks (Phillip Cleveland, Trista Biggs, Regan Losty), UNR; NanoVation (Rashi Tiwari, Yvonne Dang, Sang Mun Kim, Alex Vanderhoff, Kaustav Sinha), UNR; Samsara Interactive Inc. (David Carr, Juan Quiroz, Ben Menesini, Austin Stanhope, Mark Harmer), UNR; Simply Healthy Food (Abbey Smith, Melissa Voigtmann), UNR; and WilderMaps ( Jeffrey Stephens, Emily Setzer), UNR.

Finalists also were named for the Lt. Governor's Award, presented to the business plans that best employ clean, renewable or efficient energy technologies and services. The undergraduate and graduate winners will split cash prize pool that currently stands at $10,000.

Undergraduate finalists for that award are EVO Fuels, ME3-carGLOW, and Sierra Sustain-able Solutions (Joshua Waldo-Speth), UNR.

Graduate finalists for the Lt. Governor's Award are Nano-Energy (Whip Thompson), UNR; NanoVation and See Green Biodiesel (Juan Quiroz), UNR.
