Plastics maker picks Fernley

Agru America purchased 25 acres at Crossroads Commerce Center in Fernley to build a manufacturing plant, says Stan Thomas, who represented Wade Development in the sale. Terms were not disclosed.

The plastics manufacturer based in South Carolina will break ground within two months at the site on Newlands Drive. About 20 will be employed initially.

Agru America makes polyethylene liners used in locations ranging from landfills to fish farms. It's owned by an Austrian company, Agru Austria.

Tectonics Design Group of Reno designed the 60,000 square-foot facility and Miles Construction of Mound House will build it.

Agru America's production facility is headed by Robert Johnson, president. Its sales office is located near Houston.
