Distribution deal boosts holiday nog sales

The distribution partnership struck between Sam Francovich, bottler of Francovich Holiday Nog, and Silver State Liquor and Wine, Inc. was a success for both sides.

In addition to product placement in area Albertsons, Smith's, Scolari's and Raley's stores, Silver State landed the family's nog in area Costco, Wal-Mart and Winco stores.

The result: 1,200 cases sold in just seven weeks.

"We were very pleased with the way the product performed," says Eric Anderson, general manager of Silver State's chain and market division. "The closer to Christmas it got it just flew off the shelves."

Silver State's presence in the three large retail grocery outlets greatly helped the small, family oriented business, Anderson says, as Wal-Mart and Costco by far sold the most cases.

"They got into places they never would have gotten into," he says. "They just don't have the infrastructure to service that many cases. "
