Jan Cohen has been named general counsel of the Public Utilities Commission of Nevada, succeeding Richard Hinckley, who became general counsel for administration and contracts at the Community College of Southern Nevada.
Cohen joined the PUC in 2001 and has worked for the agency as assistant general counsel and hearings officer. She previously worked seven years as an attorney in the Nevada Attorney General's office.
She earned her bachelor's degree in secondary education from Northwest Missouri State University, a master's degree in English from the University of Nebraska at Omaha and a law degree from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln.
