Financial exec gets prison for larceny

A former executive of a Hawthorne credit union was sentenced last week to 12 to 48 months in prison after she was convicted of embezzlement.

Carla Trujillo, 28, was former president of finance and operations for Financial Horizons Credit Union. She had pleaded guilty in a district court in Mineral County to two felony counts of grand larceny.

Deputy Attorney General Erik Levin contended during the sentencing that Trujillo transferred more than $106,000 in funds to her own personal accounts and other accounts for her personal use. The transfers took place over 30 months.

The Nevada Attorney General's Office handled the Trujillo case because of a potential conflict of interest in the Mineral County District Attorney's Office.
