Hatice Gecol has been named director of the Nevada State Office of Energy and energy and science advisor to Gov. Jim Gibbons.
Gecol previously worked as an associate professor in the chemical and metallurgical engineering department at the University of Nevada, Reno.
She holds a bachelor's degree from Istanbul Technical University in Turkey; a master's degree in chemical engineering from the University of Colorado and a doctorate in chemical engineering from the University of Oklahoma.
