When Reno Mazda Kia vacates its current location at 2150 Kietkze Lane for new digs in south Reno, neighboring Reno Toyota seeks to expand by acquiring the family owned 3.5-acre parcel, Reno Toyota general manager Ryan Dolan said last week.
Tom Dolan owns both dealerships. Reno Toyota currently occupies 64,000 square feet on approximately 6.5 acres, but the dealership has contracted with Blakely, Johnson & Ghusn, Inc. of Reno to design a 285,000-square-foot, three-story building with attached parking garage.
"We are hoping to get started within the next eight months to a year and get the doors open in the next two years," Ryan Dolan said. "It is quite a project. We have to do business and work at the same time (as construction), so it will be quite an experience."
Dolan says expansion is needed to better serve customers in wake of Reno's explosive growth over the past decade. Toyota also has pushed the dealership to update its image.
"We feel we need this growth to be able to take care of customers in service, and we need more land and space for stalls to do everything we need to do," Dolan said.
