Interior demolition started last week on the 27th and 28th floors of the East Tower of John Ascuaga's Nugget, beginning a $15 million project to renovate the tower's 600 hotel rooms.
The first renovated rooms are scheduled for completion this month. The project is scheduled for completion in early 2008.
The PENTA Building Group is general contractor on the project designed by Morris & Brown Architects.
Michonne Ascuaga, the property's chief executive officer, said furniture removed from the East Tower rooms will be donated to the Salvation Army.
