PetSmart has installed 4,500 fish tanks at its 601,000-square-foot distribution facility at Tahoe Reno Industrial Center.
"I know 4,500 fish tanks seems like a lot and it certainly is, but we have allocated 63,000 square feet for those tanks and water storage, because fish are a big part of our business," said Lou Fratturo, general manager of the massive distribution center.
Installation of the fish tanks, like the rest of the construction, is right on schedule, said Fratturo.
The first 60 employees are at work, the first merchandise is scheduled to arrive on May 5, and shipments will begin in mid-June. By the end of the year, the distribution center is projected to employ 375 to 400.
