Downtown market opens

West Street Market in downtown Reno fulfilled the plans announced in May to convert several buildings into 8,600 square feet of enclosed shops with a 6,000-square-foot covered courtyard, says Shelly Fine, West Street Market Manager.

However, a farmers' market planned for last summer didn't materialize, as the center didn't open until Dec. 6. Project architect was Cathexis and contractor was Dennis Banks Construction.

Merchants include West Street Wine Bar, Brick House Bakery, Earthly Delight deli, Spirit of the Wood, jewelers Zuko's and Silver Trends, and a second location for Se7en Teahouse.

Coming in January: Niko's Greek Kitchen, Downtown Marketplace, EcoNet and Great Basin Basket, a farm produce delivery service.
