Aging warehouse gets a facelift

An investor has remodeled one of Reno's first tilt-up concrete buildings in an effort to increase its marketability.

Alex Hose in November purchased a 119,300-square-foot building erected in the 1950s at 800 Stillwell Road on north Reno for $3 million from the Bender Warehouse Company.

Hose's TICO Construction Inc. replaced the insulation in the roof, upgraded the alarm system, installed T-5 lighting with motion sensors, repaired rotted wood, painted the outside, hacked back years of overgrowth and hauled off years of debris on the 4.18-acre site.

The job required "a lot of tender loving care," Hose says.

Hose and his wife Marion will handle leases in the building, which has 60,000 square feet unoccupied space.

The NAI Alliance industrial team of Paul Perkins, Dave Simonsen, J. Michael Hoeck and Dan Oster represented the buyer and the seller in the transaction.
