Hobey's postpones planned expansion

Hobey's Casino in Sun Valley has indefinitely shelved plans to expand its facilities and build a two-story parking structure, Casino Manager Andrea DeBell says.

Planned work called for a 14,110-square-foot expansion, almost doubling the current gaming space of 8,000 square feet, as well as construction of a 64,320-square-foot parking garage at the south end of the property.

"With the economy the way it is right now, we have decided to wait," DeBell says. "We do a lot of charity for local schools and try to support our community, and now is not a good time to expand. A lot of people are hurting. The restaurant is slower, and people are trying to cut money where they can."
