Younger wins concession

The Younger Agency of Reno has been selected to be the advertising concessionaire at Spokane International Airport and will oversee all advertising sales in the airport.

The contract is for five years with an option for an additional five-year term.

Dealership to come down

Sierra Earthworks of Reno is scheduled to start demolition this week of the 26-year-old Reno Toyota dealership facility at 2100 Kietzke Lane.

The demolition will clear the way for construction of a 295,000-square-foot facility during the next 18 months. Q&D Construction of Sparks is general contractor on the project designed by BJG Architecture + Engineering of Reno.

Tank nears completion

Darrell Thompson Tank & Construction Inc. of Bakersfield, Calif., is nearing completion of a 1.2-million-gallon water tank to serve industrial users at Tahoe Reno Industrial Center.

The tank, which joins a 1.2-million-gallon and a 2.1-million-gallon tank at the industrial park, will serve industrial users on Peru Drive. Water at the center is drawn from an underground aquifer.

Coaching service launched

Creating Effective Organizations, Inc. of Reno has launched Business Coaching Gym, which provides phone and e-mail access to a business coach for employees of participating companies.

The business coaching company owned by Ileana Vassiliou also has launched a Web site at www.creatingeffectiveorganizations.com. The site was designed by Westward Strategy & Design Group LLC of Sparks.

MDA wins contract

Mine Development Associates of Reno won a contract to review the potential of a silver-mining project in Durango, Mexico. The project is under development by Orko Silver Corp. of Vancouver.

UNR building under way

The PENTA Building Group has started work on the new $42 million Davidson Mathematics and Science Center at the southeast corner of campus at the University of Nevada, Reno.

The 105,000-square foot building includes a 14,000-square foot auditorium, a new dean's office, laboratories for chemistry and biology, state-of-the-art classrooms and major site improvements.

The facility, designed by Hershenow and Klippenstien, is scheduled to be complete December 2009.

'Bizmobile' earns recognition

The 2007 Nevada Business Express "Bizmobile," a rural outreach effort hosted by Nevada Commission on Economic Development and sponsors, won note at the American Marketing Association ACE awards. The effort won an ACE for a seven-state radio advertising campaign, and excellence awards for special event marketing and public relations campaigns.

Elko Ventures posts loss

Elko Ventures Inc., a start-up mining company headquartered at Crescent Valley, lost $15,524 in the fiscal year ended Feb. 29. It didn't post any revenues.

The company, which is exploring mineral claims 17 miles southwest of Tonopah, competed a public stock offering last autumn.
