Sales group recognizes Fisher as 'Saleswoman of the Year'

Neophyte salespeople sometimes think the key to success is a smooth line of conversation with prospects.

Not so, says Timi Fisher, who was recognized a few days ago as Saleswoman of the Year by the Professional Saleswomen of Nevada.

"I think it is most important to listen to what the customer wants," says Fisher, who handles sales for Bear Industries Printing and Publishing of Sparks.

The power of listening carefully, Fisher says, is a skill she's developed during a sales career that has extended over two decades.

She entered the sales profession in 1985 after earlier experience working in the purchasing departments of casino properties in the region.

"I decided I wanted to go on the other side of it," Fisher says.

She began her sales career with two office supply companies H.S. Crocker and Schwabacher-Frey Co. before moving into the printing industry in 1990.

"I take great pride in the many successes and endearing relationships that have been established through the years with not only clients but very supportive co-workers," Fisher wrote during the Saleswoman of the Year nomination process.

The recognition is based on sales performance, community service and professional self-improvement. Fisher was selected by the Professional Saleswomen of Nevada from a field of five finalists.

The group has presented the award since 1987.

This year's Saleswoman of the Year recognition event was a fundraiser for Reno Community Family Shelter.
