Geothermal conference in Reno expected to draw more than 700

Geothermal experts from around the world, and the companies that supply them, will come to Reno for the annual meeting of the Geothermal Resources Council next month.

The meeting Oct. 5-8 will be at the Peppermill Resort and Spa.

More than 700 people are expected to attend as interest in the industry is growing rapidly, said Lisa Shevenell, general chairman of the conference. Shevenell also is director of the Great Basin Center for Geothermal Energy at the University of Nevada, Reno.

She said venture capitalists and educators will join industry professionals.

More than 70 exhibitors will be on hand. Along with workshops, the event will include field trips to geothermal resources ranging from the Steamboat Hills geothermal complex at the south edge of Reno to the hot springs at David Walley's Resort Spa at Genoa.
