hgcDIRECT, which operates a home and garden showroom at 2210 Harvard Way in Reno, said it struck a partnership with the Builders Association of Northern Nevada.
The showroom will provide low-cost space in the 38,000-square-foot center as well as promotional support to BANN members. Eighty showrooms are included in hgcDIRECT, which has drawn visits from more than 12,000 consumers since it opened in August.
Mike Dillon, executive director of BANN, said the remodeling jobs targeted by exhibitors at hgcDIRECT create the sort of jobs that contractors need to keep themselves working during slow times.
Adds Steve Ploussard, owner of hgcDIRECT, "The new home market is not going to come back. The only market we have to go after is the remodel market."
BANN plans to kick-start the alliance with a town-hall meeting from 5- 7 p.m. at hgcDIRECT on Feb 25.
