Notepad maker picks Sparks

A new imprinting, packaging and distribution facility in Sparks is expected to substantially boost western region business for Notes Inc., a subsidiary of Paper Conversions Inc. of Syracuse, N.Y.

The notepad manufacturer leased 4,700 square feet at 702 Spice Island Drive in order to bring its products closer to West Coast customers, Paper Conversions President Lloyd Withers said. The company is in the process of establishing printing and packaging lines and expects to open within the next few weeks.

"We have to make our products more accessible to our customers, where they can get the products faster and more affordably," Withers said. "Moving closer to them makes sense. By being closer and being able to get products so much faster and cheaper, we will be able to double Western business."

Withers said Western states currently account for about 15 percent of total sales for Notes Inc. The company will relocate three employees to northern Nevada and may hire locally as business picks up.

Withers said he looked at several Western states but chose northern Nevada for its location.

"This location made the most sense for us. It is not more than two UPS ground zones from any of our West Coast customers.

"It's a pretty town," Withers added. "It will be easy to relocate employees out there; it is going to be nice for them."

Tom Miller of Miller Industrial Properties LLC brokered the lease of the space owned by Prologis.
