Cancer center studies further growth

Sierra Nevada Cancer Center, fresh off completion of a 12,300-square-foot medical office building in Carson City, is looking for additional locations in Gardnerville and elsewhere in northern Nevada.

The oncology practice, whose principal owner is Dr. Jorge Perez, currently operates offices in Fallon and South Lake Tahoe in addition to its Carson City facility. Perez launched the practice seven years ago.

City National Bank provided $2.2 million in financing for the new office at 1460 S. Curry St.

The two-story office includes solar panels.

Jerry Gregory, senior vice president and Northern Nevada regional manager of City National Bank, said medical practices such as Sierra Nevada Cancer Center are performing relatively well despite the recession. The bank describes the cancer center as one of its top clients in northern Nevada.

Dr. Perez launched the cancer after he completed advanced training at Presbyterian Medical Center in Philadelphia, St. James University Hospital in Leeds, United Kingdom Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge, United Kingdom and MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.
