Survey: Cost-savings drive green decisions

More than 80 percent of northern Nevada businesses that undertake eco-friendly practices are motivated by potential cost savings.

A survey of more than 1,000 businesses conducted by BJG | Architecture + Engineering of Reno found 83.1 percent of them say return on investment is the most important question when they consider energy-saving products and processes.

Another important factor is employee satisfaction, said 58.9 percent of the survey respondents.

And 31.5 percent said they are driven by hopes of community recognition for their eco-friendly practices.
