Angel investment group recruiting

The Reno Angels are conducting a membership drive, looking for investors willing to put at least $25,000 a year into early- and mid-stage entrepreneurial companies.

The angel investment group formed in mid-2008 has reviewed 30 applications for funding, heard pitches from 10 companies and is conducting due diligence with three companies that may show excellent investment

potential.

Members meet monthly to review companies. Along with cash investments, members provide mentoring and assist with strategic planning and fundraising with young companies. Investors in the group must meet the Securities and Exchange Commission's criteria for "accredited investors" which requires the investor to have a net worth of at least $1 million or an income of $200,000 in each of the past two years or $300,000 in joint income with a spouse in the two most recent years.

The Reno Angels have set an informational meeting for 5:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday at the office of Holland & Hart, 5441 Kietzke Lane. Potential members should email the Reno Angels at Membership@RenoAngels.org.

The group's Web site is www.RenoAngels.org.
