Renewables standard met

NV Energy Co. for the first time has met the state requirement that an increasing portion of its electric supply be generated from renewable sources.

The Public Utilities Commission of Nevada said last week the utility generated 9 percent of its load using renewable methods in 2008. The law requires NV Energy to add increasing levels of renewables to its portfolio until it reaches a minimum of 20 percent in 2015.
