Utility seeks renewables OK

NV Energy has requested approval by the Public Utilities Commission of Nevada of agreements to purchase renewable power from three proposed plants in northern Nevada.

The facilities include a 3.2-megawatt landfill energy project in Storey County by Waste Management; a 53.5-megawatt geothermal project in central Nevada by Reno-based Ram Power; and a 25-megawatt geothermal project in Elko County by Reno-based Ormat Technologies.

All of the proposed contracts had been disclosed earlier by the utility.
