United wins Lake Mead work

United Construction Co. of Reno won a federal contract worth $2.31 million to construct a multi-agency communications center at the Lake Mead National Recreation Area in Boulder City.

United expects to begin construction in May on the 4,500-square-foot center and use subcontractors from the Las Vegas area. United expects the project will employ between 75 and 100 tradesmen.

The project replaces an outdated 24-hour dispatch center used by multiple agencies. The new dispatch center will include an emergency operations center and office space.
