The owners of 16 properties have signed up for a City of Sparks program that provides free environmental site assessments of brownfield development sites.
Banks generally require the environmental assessments as a condition of a development loan. The free assessments, which are valued at about $5,000, are available for commercial, industrial and multi-family sites in the Sparks redevelopment districts.
