CHSI to add jobs as it rolls out software product

CHSI Technologies expects to double its employment in Reno in the next year as it rolls out a software management system for alternative risk-transfer organizations.

The company currently employs nine people in Reno and Las Vegas. It's a division of CHSI, which manages self-insured group programs in Nevada and California.

Eric Robinson, chief operating officer of CHSI, said the new division will be managed from the CHSI office in South Meadows.

The software was developed by CHSI after it found nothing that met its own needs from existing software companies, and it's now marketing the product to self-insured groups, captive insurance companies and similar oganizations, Robinson said. It's also targeting small insurance companies.

"There is plenty of opportunity out there," he said, noting that the market for software for the alternative risk-transfer industry is fragmented among numerous players, each with small shares of the market.

CHSI markets the product through partnerships with other vendors as well as direct sales at trade shows and insurance industry events.

The CHSI Connections Management System provides real-time access to claims information, instructions to medical providers, underwriting guidelines and other policy administration information.
