$3 million cemetery contract

Spanish Springs Construction won contract through the Department of Veterans Affairs worth $3.06 million to expand the gravesite area at Massachusetts National Cemetery. The expansion will keep the cemetery from closing due to lack of interment space.

The cemetery at Borne, Mass., has an annual interment rate of about 1,400 burials per year and has fewer than 1,000 burial sites left.
