Qualcon Contractors, Inc of Minden was awarded a contract worth $4.9 million to improve 5.8 miles of the Mammoth Scenic Loop in Mono County, Calif.
Gerry Jensen, owner of Qualcon Contractors, hopes to start the job in a few weeks and expects to employ about 25 people, mainly from the Minden area, through September.
"It is a good size job," Jensen says. "We are happy to have the work and happy to put people to work. The markets are very tough everywhere. The construction industry is very tight, and the federal market is no different from state or local governments."
