SNC increases Sparks labor force

Sierra Nevada Corp. announced last week it would add jobs at its Sparks headquarters.

Sierra Nevada Corp. will add positions in accounting, engineering, human resources, information services, production and program management support. The company, which specializes in high-tech electronics, engineering and manufacturing and does a great deal of work in aviation communications for the federal government and military, added 37 jobs in 2009. The company employs more than 400 workers in the Truckee Meadows.

Twenty positions already have been filled at SNC, and the company expects to hire an additional 13 workers.

The Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada helped SNC with its expansion. Economic impact to the region in terms of the new job creation and tax revenue is expected to total $14 million.
