Four contractors win AGC honor

Four general contractors who demonstrated excellence as they completed challenging projects were recognized last week as winners of the annual Pinnacle Awards sponsored by the Nevada Chapter of the Associated General Contractors.

Winners of the Pinnacle Awards included:

* Granite Construction, honored for excellence in client service on jobs valued at less than $5 million for its work on a street rehabilitation project for the City of Reno.

* Q&D Construction Inc., honored for its sensitivity to history, the environment and culture on projects valued at less than $5 million for its work on the V&T Railroad reconstruction.

* West Coast Contractors of Nevada Inc., honored for its sensitivity to the environment for the Lake Forest erosion control project, which was valued at less than $5 million.

* Clark & Sullivan Construction, recognized for the excellence of its project management on the UNR Center for Molecular Medicine, a job valued at more than $5 million.

* Q&D, honored for the ways it overcame the difficulties of the Ritz-Carlton Highlands job at Lake Tahoe. The work was valued at more than $5 million.

Martin Iron Works received two merit awards. One recognized the firm's work in overcoming challenges at the Tamarack Lodge at Heavenly, a project valued at under $500,000. The other award honored Martin's management of a project in the Freight House District that was valued at more than $500,000.

Q&D received two merit awards. One recognized its management of the Pyramid Way reconstruction, a job valued at less than $5 million. The company also received a merit award for its client service during construction of the automated baggage check-in project at Reno-Tahoe International Airport. That project was valued at more than $5 million.
