Event-security firm opening Reno office

A company that provides event-staffing services for concerts, athletic events and the like expects to open a Reno office within the next 30 days and expects to begin hiring 300 to 500 part-time workers.

Jay Purves, the Nevada vice president of Contemporary Services Corp., was in Reno last week to scout office locations and begin talking to potential clients in the Reno-Tahoe area.

Purves, who previously headed CSC regional operations in Atlanta, also is opening a Las Vegas office.

Purves said the company's size and experience bring efficiencies to its business, and CSC expects the efficiencies to open doors with potential clients.

CSC, headquartered at Northridge, Calif., provides security, crowd-management and guest services for more than 100 stadiums and 20 convention centers nationwide. Its experience during its 43-year history includes work at four presidential inaugurations and 29 Super Bowl games.
