Woman jailed for allegedly running over boyfriend

A Carson City woman was jailed late Sunday night after she allegedly drove over her fiance.

Donna Marie Mireles, 41, was booked into the Carson City Jail at 10:20 p.m. on suspicion of felony battery with a deadly weapon causing substantial bodily harm.

According to the police report, Mireles and her fiance, William Whitsett, pulled into Mireles' driveway on Stanford Drive about 9:20 p.m. when Mireles' ex-boyfriend pulled in behind them to allegedly give Mireles some Vicodin for a neck injury.

Mireles and the ex-boyfriend allegedly argued. When the ex-boyfriend called Mireles a derogatory name, Whitsett allegedly confronted the ex and who then left, the report states.

Mireles then allegedly got back into her vehicle and was going to leave, when Whitsett said he stood behind the vehicle to "implore her to stay," the report states. Instead, according to the report, Mireles backed into Whitsett and knocked him down.

Whitsett then allegedly jumped up and ran to the driver's side where he stood on the running board, the report states.

"Mireles then sped off and Whitsett began screaming for her to stop," according to the report.

She allegedly drove about four blocks, and without stopping turned from Stanton Drive onto Fairview Drive where Whitsett fell off into the street and was run over by the left rear wheel of Mireles' Suburban SUV. Mireles allegedly left the scene.

According to the report, when officers arrived on scene, Whitsett was in the middle of the intersection of Stanton and Fairview drives with a "substantial amount of skin and flesh missing from his left shin. There was also substantial trauma to his left foot," the report states.

Whitsett was taken to the hospital.

Mireles was arrested on Hot Springs Road.

According to the report, "Mireles stated that she never ran over Whitsett, but acknowledged that she never looked back to see if he was OK."

Bail was set at $30,000.
