The identity of a man killed while riding an ATV across Highway 50 East in Stagecoach was released this morning.
According to Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Dan Lopez, 61-year-old Donald Anderson was riding with two other people on all-terrain vehicles when the trio attempted cross northbound on Highway 50 East just west of Iron Mountain Boulevard in Stagecoach.
The other two riders safely made the crossing, but Anderson was struck and killed by an eastbound Toyota Prius driven by Katherine Baran, 59, of Carson City about 4:30 p.m.
"She tried to slam on her brakes, but could not miss the ATV and hit the ATV," said Lopez.
Lopez said the accident, which backed up traffic for several hours, remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call the Nevada Highway Patrol at 687-0400 and reference case #1104160887.
