130 YEARS AGO

It now takes about 12 hours from Carson or Virginia City to Bodie. Nevada City is proposing supplying the place with electric light. It seems odd that Senators cannot break the dead-lock, considering how many editors are showing them hundreds of ways to do it.

100 YEARS AGO

Dr. Mason yesterday received one of the finest draft stallions imported into this section in a number of years. The animal, which is a Percheron, weighs nearly a ton. Like many of his class, he is intended for draft purposes. The horse is jet black and one of the finest formed horses in Nevada.

70 YEARS AGO

Believed to have been the oldest living Indian at the Pyramid Lake Reservation, Sophie Annie Williams, who was believed to be 106 years old died April 15 at the reservation. Mrs. Williams, according to records of the Indian service, was born at Pyramid lake in 1837.

50 YEARS AGO

Carson City voters will go to the polls Monday to select a Mayor and a councilman. The only question on the ballot to split the city-county government is expected to draw an above-average number of voters.

20 YEARS AGO

Carson City's newest planning commissioners Friday pick up their first agenda. Maxine Nietz helped organize a neighborhood planning and preservation group in San Francisco. Jeff Fontaine, a public heath engineer, wants to give back to the community.

10 YEARS AGO

An Albatross brings Lonny McClung safely home from a 30,000 mile round-the-world journey. McClung has been flying Albatrosses, a big seaplane for about nine years.
