Ormat Technologies, Inc. said last week it's completed the modification of its 20-megawatt Burdette geothermal plant at Galena into an evaporative cooling configuration.
Reno-based Ormat said it wants to test evaporative cooling at the plant because the technology has the potential to increase power generation by as much as 30 percent during the hottest hours of the day.
