Soroptimists 'Lighting the Way'

Soroptimist International of Carson Carson City installed its 2011-2012 slate of officers in July at an evening meeting at the home of Marilyn Lewis.

The new officers are President Jean Bondiett, President-elect Didi Chaney, Vice-President Marilyn Lewis, Treasurer Mary Luster, Assistant Treasurer Lila Brown, Recording Secretary Karen Peterson, Corresponding Secretary Sue Jones and Directors Sherry Griffin-Grundy and Joan Andreas. The Parliamentarian is Didi Chaney.

The new president's theme for the year will be "Lighting the Way," focusing on accomplishing altruistic goals and meeting objectives through a hands-on approach in the community.

Committees have been formed to promote the mission of Soroptimist. The identifying project is breast cancer funding through the Annual Stroke to Help, scheduled for Sept. 29 at Eagle Valley Golf Course. The spring fundraiser, Champagne & Shoes, is in April.

The Service Committee allocates funds for worthy projects, the Foundations Committee administers grants to students as well as recognition of outstanding youth volunteers and students and the Whole Child Committee is dedicated to children and their well-being.
