Toastmasters clubs present awards

Kelly Clark and Chris Wahle were the Capital Nevada Toastmasters Club winners in the Club's annual Humorous Speech and Table Topics, respectively. Clark's speech, "Violating the Interstate Commerce Law," described an interstate bus trip she endured with her dog when her car broke down. Wahle was voted best at answering within 21⁄2 minutes, the topic "What Nevada Needs Is ..." Both will represent the Club at the area contest on Sept. 17.

Margie Staudenbaer won Table Topics, with Carolyn Lancaster as runner up in the Carson Communicators Toastmaster Club contest. Nancy Linna won the Humorous Speech Contest, with Lancaster as runner up.

Linna's speech "Sweating to the Slot Machines" described a vigorous workout using slot machines. Toastmaster Shellee Snyder asked the contestants, "When I need comfort I ..." and Margie rocked the answer in less than 3 minutes.
