A bandit cut through a wall at the Carson City Library and made off with donations and change Saturday night.

According to the Carson City Sheriff's Office report, an intrusion alarm sounded at the library about 9:45 p.m. When a deputy arrived, he found someone gained entry into the building by cutting a hole in the drywall on the north side of the building.

The burglar emptied the contents of a donation box, as well as removed two metal boxes containing change and a cash drawer. All three of these items were found empty outside the building near the hole.

The report states that when an officer checked with Smith's to see if anyone had used their Coinstar machine to turn change into bills, it was discovered that moments after the burglary a man performed two transactions at the machine

The suspect is described as 6 feet 2 inches tall, weighing 180 pounds, with brown hair. He was wearing dark pants and a long-sleeved white shirt with a striped short-sleeved shirt over the top.

Anyone with information on the burglary is asked to call 887-2020 ext. 41400.

As always, Carson City Secret Witness will pay up to $2,500 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of individuals committing crimes. To make an anonymous tip and become eligible for a reward call 775-322-4900.
