Obituary: John Val Clark

John Val Clark was born August 11, 1948 in Bishop, California. He and his family lived in June Lake, CA for several years before moving to Bishop. John grew up hunting and fishing in the Owens Valley with his grandfather, brothers and friends. He always had a bird dog (or two), usually a Springer Spaniel named either Mushka or Santana.

At age 17, John joined the Army and was stationed in Paris and Germany before going to Vietnam. John was an expert marksman and served as a doorgunner in the 116th Assault Helicopter Company (The Hornets). He survived being shot down several times, lost many friends, and literally saved thousands of lives before returning home.

In 1971, John married the love of his life, Genette Marcellin. They moved to Fairbanks, Alaska where they started a family and eventually a roofing company. John loved Alaska. He was an avid Moose Hunter and Halibut Fisherman, and relished the great outdoors until the end of his days.

John spent many years traveling between North Pole, Alaska and Stagecoach Gulch, Nevada. John loved the old west. He collected guns and his pioneering spirit truly enjoyed life in the Nevada dessert. John was a champion Trap Shooter and Pool Shark. He was very intelligent and talented. John had a heart of gold and a silver tongue. He was very fun to be around and will be missed by many.

John lost his battle with cancer on December 2nd, 2011 and is survived by his daughters Misti Clark-Holt and Angenette Aukee, granddaughters Hallie-Ann and Jaedyn Aukee, his mother Beverly Clark, sister Colleen McLachlan, and brothers Marty, Val, Brad and Randy.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, December 12th at 2:00 pm at The Gardens Funeral Home in Fallon, NV. A reception will be held at 4:30 at Slidin Clyde's (formerly the Break-A-Heart Saloon) in Stagecoach, NV.
