Fling hired at ACTIONN

Acting in Community Together in Organizing Northern Nevada has hired its first staff person, Pat Fling. Fling started with the newly incorporated organization on Oct. 17, reported the Rev. Neal Anderson, chairperson of the Board of Directors.

"Pat brings a depth of experience, skills and expertise to our organizing work for Northern Nevada," said Anderson. "Most recently, she has been providing consulting to social benefit organizations here in Reno, helping with board and executive director training, strategic planning, fund development and marketing planning. Prior to that she was the founding president and executive director of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northern Nevada for 10 years."

Fling has a master's degree in social work from the State University of New York at Stony Brook and has served as the staff leader for many health and human service organizations throughout the U.S.

ACTIONN is led by local faith communities in Northern Nevada and is committed to building civic engagement and increasing public participation by those most affected by injustice and inequity. Its mission is to empower members of the faith community to seek justice, actively engage in the civic process and to participate in creating solutions to pressing community issues. ACTIONN is an affiliate of PICO, the national organization, People in Communities Organizing.
