The School Whipping (cont. from Thursday): The teacher was to have disregarded the note and beat the boy in an unmerciful manner, producing black and red welts on his back. Colonel Ellis says that several neighbors were called to witness the boy's back and are ready to testify as to his flogging. The case is to be investigated by the Board of School Trustees (continued Saturday).

100 YEARS AGO

Was dynamite used in the destruction of the new Court House in Yerington? Acting Governor Ross sent State Engineer Kearney and a member of the State Police to the scene to carry on an investigation. It is the belief of the Governor's office and other points that the building was not dynamited, but that it collapsed because of faulty construction. The roar of noise was the falling of heavy beams.

70 YEARS AGO

Opinions differ on how Carson's first trial blackout went last night. Observers took positions in the capitol dome, at Lakeview and the McClellan Peak lookout station. All observers in those positions were satisfied with results.

Carson City has postponed acceptance of a community antenna franchise to serve the city. T.V. Pix, Ink and H & B Communications Corporation both bid for the franchise. Installation would cost $49.95 with monthly costs around $6.

Eugene Paslov, Nevada's superintendent of public instruction will not be leaving the state to take a similar job in Michigan.
