(Continued from Friday) In three minutes Yank was asleep, but was awakened again in a few minutes when one of his help rushed up the rickety building and yelled: "Old man! That goldarned old sow is in the bar again eating up all the barley!" Within seconds he was bounding down the stairs yelling to the court: "Just adjourn the court until I kind o knock the stuffin out o' that sow, an' ef I ain't back in 10 minutes I'll give a verdict for the plaintiff."

100 YEARS AGO

In an unusual situation, Principal James Comerford, who was dismissed at Monday's Virginia City Trustees meeting, didn't take the action seriously and showed up to work as usual at the Fourth Ward School. Chairman Noel said Mr. Comerford declined to be discharged, but he will not be paid.

70 YEARS AGO

Mr. and Mrs. Ray Germain and daughter of Tonopah spent the weekend in Carson. Mr. Germain is editor of the Tonopah Times. He served in the 1939 legislature as assemblyman from Nye County.

50 YEARS AGO

Justice of the Peace Pete Supera topped honors for marrying the most couples during 1960 with 2,626. Next in line was Rev. Adam Shriver with 575.

20 YEARS AGO

The Carson City Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a "Leadership Carson City" program to give participants a detailed understanding of the inner workings of the city.

Boredom shows Alex Angelo, 11, how to study atlases. He is the winner of the National Geographic Geography Bee at Fremont Elementary.
