Career College doubles its enrollment

Career College of Northern Nevada's move into a spacious new facility on Pullman Way in Sparks gave the career-training organization room to expand, and as a result, CCNN's enrollment has doubled to 600 students, says Job Placement Director Rita Williams.

CCNN occupied its new facility in July of 2009. The growth in enrollment has allowed the college to hire 25 additional teaching and support positions. Nearly 85 percent of students attending the career college are enrolled in its medical certificate programs, Williams says.

"The HVAC program, we needed four new instructors, and with medical growing we had to hire additional teachers and a coordinator," she says. "And the job placement team has grown from three to five positions."

The expansion also allowed CCNN to create an HVAC technician-training program, which occupies a whole wing of the Pullman Way building and has 18 to 20 students enrolled in the nine-month class.

CCNN previously occupied 15,0000 square feet on Corporate Boulevard for more than two decades. Its new building is almost 33,000 square feet, President Nate Clark says.

Two of the college's most popular certificate programs are medical assisting and pharmacy technician, and its medical assisting associate's degree program also enjoys high enrollment. Career College of Northern Nevada offers seven training programs that vary in length from nine to 21 months.
