Captain Sam's Vindication: Some weeks ago Capt. Sam, chief of the Piutes was seen drinking a glass of whiskey. A resolution sought by Doolin was presented to the Legislature. The Indians were so pleased with their initial attempt at lobbying, they are introducing a bill compelling the State to furnish them with covered resorts where they can play poker.

100 YEARS AGO

The hunt for the Indians who murdered four men in Northern Washoe County has drifted from the Jackson Mountains to the section north of Tuscarora. Earlier indications the Indians were Modoc were found to be untrue. The band is now thought to be Shoshone.

70 YEARS AGO

Ranger Walter Puhn of Mono forest said today that 50 CCC workers from Camp Antelope will return to the state armory in March.
