Senior residents features fun March events

The March schedule of special events at Sierra Place, a Kisco Senior Living Community, features toe-tapping dance and music and fun ways to learn a little history.

• 3 p.m. March 8: A Mardi Gras Dance Party, complete with celebratory DJ music and special treats. Come to dance or simply enjoy the music and revelry. Costumes, masks and beads are optional.

• 2: 30 p.m. March 13: Enjoy western ragtime music with Chris Bayer. A multi-talented favorite in the Carson region, Bayer plays guitar, banjo and washtub bass fiddle to favorite sing-along, old-time tunes.

• 10:30 a.m. March 15: A lecture on The Influence of Nevada Women by Bob Nylen, curator of history at the Nevada State Museum. Part of Sierra Place's popular monthly lecture series, the March lecture will recognize prominent Carson City women and their contributions to Nevada, as part of Women's History Month. You might just be surprised at what these extraordinary women accomplished.

• 2:30 p.m. March 20: Abraham Lincoln visits Sierra Place. Portrayed by Wally Earhart (a fourth cousin of Amelia Earhart), President Lincoln will discuss his views of America during his presidential tenure and the Civil War. Earhart recently impersonated Abe Lincoln as grand marshal of the Nevada Day Parade in Carson City.

All events are free and open to the public.
