Shannon LitzConstruction on the new Aaron's building on Thursday. The business currently has a location in north Carson City and will relocate to the new south Carson City location in February, which is where the now-demolished Carpet Barn used to stand.
Two stores in North Carson City are getting closer to opening their new south Carson City locations.
A sign is now up for Big 5 Sporting Goods as well as Aaron's Sales & Lease Ownership.
Big 5 will be located next door to Big Lots! in the Southgate Shopping Center in a 50,000-square-foot storefront.
The company filed for a business license with the city on Dec. 22.
The new store is expected to open this quarter.
Meanwhile, Aaron's Sales & Lease Ownership is building a new location where Carpet Barn, 3555 S. Highway 395, used to stand. It will be twice the size of its current store at 3777 N. Carson St.
It's expected to open in late February.
On the move
Capital Jewelers is moving from its location at 808 N. Curry St. The business will take over the former location of Sierra Sewing Center,1000 N. Carson St.
The jeweler will stage a grand opening on Jan. 15.
