10 jailed in Silver Springs raids

Several people were jailed in three search warrant raids in Lyon County recently, including two prompted by a recent murder.

According to Lyon County Sheriff's Lt. Bryan Veil, on Wednesday the Lyon County Sheriff's Office Narcotics Division, assisted by the Lyon County Detective Division, SWAT team, Gang Unit and members from the patrol division served a search warrant at 2865 Talapoosa St. in Silver Springs.

As a result of the warrant deputies allegedly recovered 32.8 grams of marijuana packaged for sales, some methamphetamine and numerous items of drug paraphernalia.

Deputies also allegedly recovered explosive items used to manufacture improvised explosive devices. Three subjects were taken into custody.

• Rory Bair, 58, of Silver springs was booked into Lyon County Jail on suspicion of maintaining a residence for drug sales/use, possession of methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia, and unlawful use of a controlled substance.

• Mike Silva II, 28, of Silver Springs was booked on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance for sales, and possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

• Jeremiah Bair, 18, of Silver Springs, was booked on suspicion of possession of drug paraphernalia.

On Thursday, said Veil, officers served two search warrants at 1320 Lake St. and 3807 Amber St., in Silver Springs.

He said officers recovered items possibly related to the homicide. On Jan. 3, Stuart Gardner, 18, was shot and killed when he arrived home and interrupted a burglar. Alexander King, 20, is awaiting trial on charges of murder.

Veil said the warrants were connected to the murder case, but would not give details.

Deputies allegedly recovered marijuana, drug paraphernalia and three firearms at the Amber Street home. Two of the weapons allegedly had their serial numbers obliterated and are believed to have been stolen.

• Allan Pluff Jr., 48, of Silver Springs, was jailed on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a firearm, destroying a serial number on a firearm, maintaining a residence for drug sales/use, unlawful use of a controlled substance, and possession

of marijuana and paraphernalia.

• Dona Pluff, 20, of Silver Springs, was jailed on suspicion of parole/probation violation and possession of drug paraphernalia.

• Jeffrey Strauch, 18, of Silver Springs, was jailed on suspicion of possession of drug paraphernalia.

• Janet Butler, 18, of Silver Springs, was jailed on two counts of suspicion of unlawful use of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

• Destiny Taylor, 19, of Reno, was jailed on suspicion of unlawful use of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

• Edward Leeper, 20, also of Reno, was jailed on suspicion of unlawful use of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Veil said a juvenile was also arrested for minor in possession of a firearm, destroying a serial number on a firearm, two counts of unlawful use of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
