Sandoval to swear in new BAWN officers

Gov. Brian Sandoval will administer the oath of office for the new officers and directors of the Builders Association of Western Nevada this evening.

Rick DeMar, executive director of BAWN, said it's the first time the organization has asked a sitting governor to give the oath of office.

"It's awfully nice he takes the time to do it," DeMar said.

Bob Nielsen, the new chairman for the National Association of Home Builders, will also attend the event, which will be emceed by state Sen. James Settelmeyer.

The organization is inducting 10 new officers and directors. They are: Rob McFadden, Keith Shaffer, Larry Peyton, William Fergus, Rob McQueary, Barry Lease, Brent Holderman, Sam Landis, Jim Feser and Mark Turner.

The event starts at 5 p.m. inside the Gold Dust West in Carson City, 2171 Highway 50 E.
