Builders to hear forecast for 2011

A national economist who specializes in housing will tell a Reno audience this week that residential construction contributed nearly $45 million to Washoe County businesses outside of the construction industry last year.

Elliot Eisenberg, economist for the National Association of Home Builders, will speak at a forecast event sponsored by the the Builders Association of Northern Nevada Wednesday.

Other speakers at the event will include Mark Krueger of Grubb & Ellis NCG, who will talk about the market for residential land; Ken Amundsen, immediate past president the Reno Sparks Association of Realtors, who will discuss the residential resale market; Tim Ruffin of Colliers International, who will review commercial development; and Mike Hix of First Independent Bank, who will discuss lending trends.

The forecast breakfast begins at 7:15 a.m. at the Atlantis. Tickets are $40 through www.thebuilders.com.
