Cowboy crowd cheers real Nevada politician

A recent concert by David John and the Comstock Cowboys was truly impressive. It was not the fanfare or music that astounded me as much as it was the attitude of the crowd.

One thing about the Nevada cowboy that you can take to the bank is exactly how conservative they are when it comes to their music, as well as who they enjoy. This explains why when David John pointed out Sen. Don Gustavson, sharing a booth with my wife and me, there was a wonderful round of applause for him and his new wife, Cathy.

This group seemed to be applauding not because of his title as much as they were showing appreciation for where he stood politically, which was with them and their ideas and ideals. That is why I wish all Nevada was made up of only cowboys, or those who shared the cowboy way.

To me, Sen. Gustavson is a living example of what the people on both sides of the aisle have been clamoring for. We want and need someone in office who is just like us - who actually worked for a living, who will tell you like it is instead of always tell you what you like to hear.

The show was great, the Comstock Cowboys played their hearts out and everyone had a great time enjoying the real Nevada, including a real Nevada politician, Sen. Don Gustavson, who enjoys being with those who elected him: Nevadans.
