A Carson City man accused of trying to sell stolen motor vehicles was arrested Wednesday after leading deputies on a brief foot chase.
Aaron Clack, 27, had allegedly taken two stolen ATVs from a friend and stole a Honda motorcycle from a neighbor and was trying to sell them. He was also charged with possession of heroin, a gross misdemeanor.
It all started midday on Wednesday when Washoe County authorities confronted Clack's brother about a stolen Bobcat he was using for a job. The owner of the Bobcat had spotted it at the work site and alerted authorities.
Clack's brother told deputies that Aaron Clack had given it to him the day before. Carson City deputies were notified and went to Clack's house in the 3300 block of Nye Lane to investigate.
When they arrived they found a stolen Honda motorcycle in the backyard. While they were there, a call came in that two men driving a U-Haul were dumping a quad in a field on the corner of Airport Road and Nye Lane. The deputies realized a U-Haul had been parked next door to Clack's house and saw the truck was gone.
When deputies confronted the men, Clack allegedly ran. The other 29-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possessing drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor.
About a half hour later, a deputy spotted Clack on top of an RV near his house and arrested him.
Clack allegedly stole the motorcycle from his neighbor's yard and bought the stolen ATVs from someone he met near the Carson River.
The other stolen ATV was located in Mound House. Both belonged to the U.S. Geological Survey, which has a yard on Deer Run Road.
Clack was arrested at
1 p.m. Wednesday on the 300 block of Pat Lane on felony suspicion of possession of stolen property as well as misdemeanor obstructing an officer and possession of drug paraphernalia plus gross misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance.
Bail was set at $69,171.
